Sunday Social

1. Tell us about the family you grew up in, parents, siblings, grandparents.
My mom and dad are from the Philippines. I've been so blessed to have great parents who disciplined and loved us. My mom was the one who led me to the Lord when I was 6. My dad was the one who always encouraged my dreams and aspirations. I have a younger brother who, in my opinion, is an amazing artist. I didn't get the chance to know my grandparents. My maternal grandparents and fraternal grandpa died by the time I was 6. I only met my dad's mom twice because she lived in the Philippines.

2. Tell us about your husband, fiancé, boyfriend, significant other.
I've been married to Dan for 2 years. We dated 3.5 years before getting married. He's the complete opposite of me. He has a drive for adventure and attempting new activities. I would rather not. I would rather read a book and he would rather listen to music. Despite our differences, we make a great team. He's also quite the creative romantic. You can read about our engagement here and here

3. Tell us about your children. If you don’t have children, talk about your fur children.
No kiddos yet! But we have two adorable puppies! Piper is a boxer-lab-mutt and Carl is a boxer. Piper is definitely the more dominant one. Carl is super chill.

4. Tell us about your best friends. How long have you known them? How did you meet?
I met my best friend in the 6th grade. We were standing in line and she overheard me talking about a book I was reading. She is literally my twin sister from another mister. We share the same birthday, have the same taste in hobbies and books. Funny thing, when she's in town, my husband teases me about having a five-hour-coffee-date talking about Karen Kingsbury, the Duggars, and Des from the Bachelorette. (Disclaimer: we don't always talk about those topics, but one of the three always come up.) Since I don't have a sister, she was the one I asked to be my maid of honor. She has been a loyal friend to me for over a decade and I am so thankful for her friendship.

5. Tell us about any other special people in your life.
I have to give a shout out to my in-laws. Some people have in-laws they don't like. This is not the case for me! I've been so blessed to have a father-in-law and mother-in-law who treat me like their own kid. My sister-in-law has stepped into the role of "big sister" in my life. She's the one I go to for advice or for a laugh. She's become a great friend. My sister-in-law's husband has stepped into the role of "big brother." We seem to have a bond based on the fact that we're the ones married into the fam. I also have two sweet nieces that I just love to pieces.

Til next week!
